At the beginning…

To facilitate the adjustment to the new environment for the newly arrived students, a lot of different seminars and events are offered during the first weeks of each semester.

Welcome meetings

New students are welcomed in several meetings by the rector of the university, the heads of the specific study programs, the international office and senior students.

Orientation Days

The orientation days, organized by the office of international affairs, give general assistance for the students' stay in Hohenheim and for successful studies.

The topics can be summarized as follows:

  • Objectives, structure and regulations of the M.Sc. programs
  • Studying in Germany – contacts, networking, support
  • Administrative requirements
  • Financial issues, jobs, internships, scholarships

Intercultural Competence Seminar

During the three-day Intercultural Competence Seminar in a youth hostel on the Swabian Albs students will get to know each other and each other’s backgrounds.

Students learn about the meaning of culture and its influence on daily life in a new environment and also on communication in intercultural groups. The seminar consists of theoretical input and several interactive parts, games and exercises.

Participation is free of charge, transportation, accommodation and food is generously sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
