Pig fair nutrition should regard predominantly anatomical, physiological and ethological preconditions of the animal. Pig fair nutrition is nutrition related to requirements of essential nutrients. Pigs should have the chance for good salivation, maintaining the barrier function of the stomach, complete precaecal digestion and limited intestinal fermentation, which mostly is influenced by the buffering components and the fermentability of ileocaecally flowing digesta. The complex role of fiber is pointed out, aspects of feeding techniques, animal behavior and related productivity is discussed.
