Agricultural Experimental Station

The Agricultural Experimental Station is one of the University of Hohenheim’s research laboratories and educational institutions. Scientists, primarily from agricultural sciences, engineering, and ecology, use the various stations at 6 locations to carry out research projects with plants outdoors and with livestock.

The Station also provides the technical requirements for completing Diplom theses, doctoral dissertations, and other scientific and applied publications. It therefore serves to qualify students  and early career researchers. Depending on the subject, the stations are included in the teaching plans of various degree programs.  Together with students, University of Hohenheim professors include outdoor regions, fields, cold frames, greenhouses, individual animals, and groups of animals in labs and seminars. Student excursion groups from other universities are also among the Station’s visitors. The University’s instructors also hold events for German and international scientists to discuss current research programs in conjunction with tours and demonstrations of ongoing experiments. Various visitors and groups also come to gather information about the Experiment Station’s research work. With on-site demonstrations, publications, and lectures at expert events, there is a broad transfer of the findings gained from the Experiment Station to the practice.

The Agricultural Experiment Station is focused on various research areas and therefore has available basic spaces, rooms, technical equipment, and trained personnel. There is close cooperation among those working in the Agricultural Experiment Station. As part of the University’s central facilities, it provides a significant basis for procuring research funds from public institutions and the private sector. In all, with the Agricultural Experiment Station the University provides a central, diverse, and intensively used research and educational tool.
